Pioneer Trust Bank, N.A., is looking for a Fiduciary Tax Accountant to add to our Trust Department. This position will be responsible for managing an account load of fiduciary income tax returns as well as estate tax returns, all to be signed by Pioneer Trust Bank, N.A., as Trustee or Personal Representative.

  • Schedule the preparation of tax returns and monitor to ensure progress
  • Prepare and/or review tax returns before filing with government bodies
  • Schedule and/or review Tax Department projects not directly related to a particular account
  • Returns include 1041/41, 706/OR706, 5227, 990-PF
  • Monitor preparation of 1040 returns for clients on the Tax Monitor log
  • Review tax preparation log to meet deadlines
  • Review and respond to incoming correspondence for the Tax Department
  • Log all payments received by and made by Tax Department
  • Prepare for and attend monthly Trust & Probate meeting with Trust Officers
  • Review tax worksheets for all accounts and make changes as necessary
  • Review quarterly trust and individual tax estimates
  • Schedule busy season workload and hours
  • Communicate with officers regarding annual tax issues/questions for their accounts
  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and accountants regarding tax returns produced by Tax Department
  • Prepare 1099s and Agency Tax Letters by January 31 deadline
  • Prepare basis adjustment for tax depreciation, discounts, and business ownership interests
  • Prepare Extraordinary Fee Sheets for applicable accounts
  • Prepare work papers for Salem Foundation
  • Prepare and/or review tax returns
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with co-workers
  • Follow documented procedures to execute duties
  • Maintain manual of key information necessary to execute duties
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with bank policies and processes
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


  • LTC, EA, or CPA preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent math and accounting skills
  • A level of experience with the preparation of fiduciary income tax returns


  • Ability to work professionally with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to communicate effectively in-person, via phone and email
  • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand at a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, squat, bend and manually manipulate standard office equipment.
